There are Chuck Will’s widows in the cemetery in the spring but it’s usually too loud to hear them. When I do hear them, I know they’re calling me.

In north Florida they sing into June. But today might be the only day this year I hear one in Tampa.
Here’s a little more of the song on YouTube
They nest on the ground and I wonder if coyotes bother them. I feel confident at least that if they stay in the cemetery, the coyotes will keep the cats out.
I get a feeling when I hear them call that I’m supposed to do something. Some spring night maybe I’ll know what.
