Here’s an industry press release the Sarasota Herald-Tribune ran completely unedited, almost like it was journalism. It’s basically a corporate press release intended for an industry trade publication, but in a general interest publication like a newspaper, it’s like an ad without a target.
The fascinating thing about it is the way you can weave in everything you know about the world now: the demands of capitalism, the commercialization of secularized religious holidays, industrial supply chain logistical economies and how they compare to their household analogues, the global impact of climate change, and so forth.
Every paragraph invites you to imagine a different vignette in the life of a person or persons, living in a world where someone’s most critical concern is engineering quality, manufacturing scalability, and supply chain logistics for giant, electronic reindeer displays for commercial or residential locations at Christmas.
And the SH-T ran it for free, as content, rather than as paid advertising.
What a time to be alive!
